1949 U.S. Open Contestant Badge - Cary Middlecoff Victory

You find a wide range of varying conditions on these treasured keepsakes. The 1 1/8" x 1 1/4" Contestants badge from the 1949 U.S. Open held at Medinah Country Club offered in this lot is commendably clean and attractive in a NR-MT condition. Scarcity is a true statement on these splendid showpieces with only 159 contestants pins crafted for the 1949 U.S. Open field. Presents with merely a hint of oxidation on the reverse. Hall of Famer Cary Middlecoff won the first of his two U.S. Open titles (1956) with a one stroke triumph over runners-up Sam Snead and Clayton Heafner.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on April 12th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
