1948 Masters Sunday Ticket - Harmon Win - Jones Last Playing Round in Tournament
#3863 with bad condition on backside
This 2 3/4" x 4 3/4" Sunday fourth and final round ticket was on the scene at the Augusta National when Claude Harmon became the only player not on the regular PGA tour to ever win the Masters. In the process Harmon tied the then low score for the Masters with 279. His margin of victory over Cary Middlecoff, in second place, was 5 shots, and this stood as a record until 1955 when Middlecoff won by 7. The difficulty of assembling a set of pre-1950 Masters paper badges from final rounds is well known. From previous mounting this example carries a tarnished reverse side-this however is an insignificant flaw in assessing its value as a display item presenting only front sides of tickets. Oh did we mention, it also was Bobby Jones' last playing round in the Masters.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on April 12th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
