1948 US Open Press Guide - Hogan's First Open Victory

The 1940's ushered in the first era of providing the sports media with detailed bound notes to help facilitate their coverage of an event. The U.S.G.A. was right in step with this trend when they provided the 1948 U.S. Open Press Guide offered here. This event was contested at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Ca. (a course that would soon become known as "Hogan's Alley", for Ben's dominance there). In the 1948 U.S. Open Hogan captured his first of four Open titles with a two stroke win over Jimmy Demaret. Featuring its orginal staple binding, in excellent condition this seldom seen publication is packed with historical information on past U.S. Open's and detailed coverage of the '48 event, which was the second of Hogan's nine major wins. A wonderful addition to even the most detailed of Hogan collections.

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on November 16th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended.
