1947 Masters Tournament SERIES Badge #1990
This lot presents a desired SERIES ticket from the 1947 Masters in which patrons saw Jimmy Demaret win his second of three Masters by two strokes over Byron Nelson and Frank Stranahan. Adding to the prestige, he was the first golfer to score four sub-par rounds in the same Masters tournament.
This ticket number 1990 from the 11th Masters tournament presents in excellent condition exception to higher grade being a lower right hand crease, with ink notations of 'Jimmy Demaret 191' and the original Augusta, Georgia native's name and address on the reverse. The collecting of the ever challenging Masters tickets from the 1930's and 40's is red hot now, with a premium placed on Series badges. This 1947 Series badge represents the first example that The Golf Auction has encountered. This example of the seldom seen '47 SERIES TICKET merits inclusion in a high end collection of Masters tickets so many collectors are striving for, but so few are achieving.
