Patrons witnessed the charismatic Texan Jimmy Demaret win his second of three Masters Tournaments by two strokes over challengers Byron Nelson and Frank Stranahan. Adding to Demaret's prestige, he was the first golfer to score four sub-par rounds in the same Masters tournament.
