1947 Western Golf Championship Low Amateur Medal - Frank R. Stranahan
Frank Stranahan finished far in the front of the simon-pure continent with a highly respectable 276 (tied for 10th against the largely professional field). He saved his best for last firing a 67 in the final round. The award that Stranahan was presented by the Western Golf Association as a permanent reminder of his low amateur status in 1947 is a 1 3/8" diameter (gold) 14k medal, which is displayed on a 1 1/2"x 3" black ribbon.
