Multi-Signed 1947 Ryder Cup Original 8x10 Photo
Crystal clear 8x10 original photograph of the 1947 United States Ryder Cup Team. Image with four sharp corners and no evident creasing carries a verso stamping of Photo Art Commercial Studio Portland, Oregon. The 1947 Ryder Cup was the 7th edition of the matches which had been suspended due to World War II since last played in 1937. They were contested at the Portland Golf Club and saw the U.S. squad captained by Ben Hogan dominate, posting an 11-1 triumph which was the largest margin of victory every amassed in the early era format of 12 points. This photo has been inked signed by four members of the U.S. team including Hogan, Lew Worsham, Sam Snead, and Jimmy Demaret. With all but the Demaret signatures bearing inscriptions to either Jimmy or Jim, it is highly speculated with due reason that this photo once belonged to Demaret. From the Golden era of U.S. Ryder Cuppers this formal team photo contains the valued signatures of Worsham (d-1990), Snead (d-2002), Hogan (d-1997) and Demaret (d-1983). James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed each of these four autographs, and their letter of authentication comes with this lot.
