1946 U.S. Open Program - Lloyd Mangrum Victory
It had been 5 years since the last US Open was heldf, and that was due to the war. It was only fitting to see a World war II veteran, Lloyd Mangrum, defeat Byron Nelson and Vic Ghezzi in a 36 hole playoff. The recipient of two purple hearts, Mangrum had won the only major of his career. Presented here is the US Open Program from that historic tournament.
