1944 Texas Victory Open Program Signed by Byron Nelson
Exceedingly seldom seen program from Byron Nelson's 1944 triumph at the Texas Victory Open measures 8 1/2" x 11" over the ex-mt publication. This event was one of eight which Nelson would claim during the 1944 PGA campaign. He would follow with an astonishing 16 wins in 1945 to give Lord Byron a record two year run of 26 triumphs. Many claim this to be war aided, but the '44 Texas Victory Open tournament is a perfect example to deflate this claim with Toney Penna, Jugs McSpaden, Denny Shute, Dutch Harrison and Ben Hogan among the pros who failed to defeat Nelson in the event. Both ticket and program have been signed boldly in black sharpie by the deceased Hall of Famer Nelson. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed both autographs by Byron, and their letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
