1942 Palm Beach Golf Club South Florida Champions Sterling Silver M221-3 Pint Decanter - Frank Stranahan
Already holding the Ohio and Arizona top amateur titles, Frank Stranahan stepped up in class to compete in Florida against its top amateurs to start his 1942 campaign. In capturing the Miami-Biltmore Amateur and the St. Augustine mid-Florida Amateur, Frank owned the first two titles of the winter circuit. The 19-year-old sensation continued his domination of the amateur golf world in the 36th annual 1942 Palm Beach Golf Club South Florida Amateur. Stranahan's one-over-par 71 was the medal score in qualifying. He then steam rolled through his matches to claim his third straight Florida Amateur title. For his victory at the Palm Beach Golf Club "Stranny" received this Royal Danish three pint decanter measuring 3" in diameter with 4 1/2" max width,and raising 11 1/2" high including its ornate top which is offered in this lot. The Royal Danish product features a stately Scandinavian, elegant design over the body of this award for achieving links supremacy. The underside of this treasure contains the Royal Danish strike marks and the notations Sterling Silver M221 3pts. A portion of the Frank Stranahan collection proceeds will be donated to The First Tee of Lake Erie.
