1940's 'The Golfers' Print by Sidney Lucas Published by Paris Etching Society and Printed in France with Key - Framed
"The Golfers - A Grand Match at St. Andrews" piece is offered here. This memorializes a moment captured from the 1841 Royal & Ancient annual meeting. The scene depicts the encounter between Sir David Baird and Sir Ralph Anstruther playing against Major Playfair and John Campbell. The original is widely considered to be the single most important piece of artwork related to golf. Also included is a framed key plate to the the engraving that lists all the golfers depicted in the art work. "The Golfers" frame is 27" x 21" and the key plate from measures 14 1/2" x 12.
