1939 US Amateur at North Shore CC Program - Marvin Ward Winner
This lot offers a near-mint hard bound presentation issue of the 1939 U.S. Amateur program from Bud Ward's 7 & 5 win over Raymond Billows at North Shore C.C. in Glenview, Illinois. The success which Ward had in winning the '39 Amateur came as no surprise as his game was in top form having finished one stroke out of a playoff with Byron Nelson, Craig Wood and Denny Shute earlier in the summer at the U.S. Open. Ward would also claim a second U.S. Amateur title in 1941.
