1939 Western Open Championship Ticket - Medinah

This example which still today maintains its original string, and is in strong ex-mt condition. Extremely high shape for paper product which was designed to be worn as identification of admittance on the individual as they trecked around a golf course. Minor flaws to this top condition example are now noted: 1)verso written lightly in pencil 2)slight 1/2 inch crease around circle area which retains string 3)slight almost non-visible crease on areas on reverse side. The pluses which this example displays far outweigh those flaws and include extreme clarity of yellow color to body of ticket with the red and black ink accenting ink extremely vibrant. This ink and the font sizing match exactly to the previous examples we have handled, though the sample size is small due to the scarcity of this ticket. It is important to note that this ticket displays, no paper loss which is common in this era ticket with scrapbook mounting being a custom of the day.The condition on this beauty is as rare as a bad shot that Byron Nelson hit in the 1939 season. The only year of his career in which Nelson would capture the Vardon trophy for low scoring average over the course of a season on the PGA Tour.
