1936 Women's US Amateur at Canoe Brook CC Contestants Badge - Pam Barton Winner
Robert McCord ranked Pam Barton #34 in his book 'The Golf 100: Ranking the Greatest (Female) Golfers of All Time'. Barton's victory in the US Amateur was the first by a foreign competitor in 23 years and the first time in 27 years that a player held both the British and U.S. titles simultaneously. She deserved such a ranking as high as 34, but it could've been much higher. In 1939, after Barton won her second British Ladies Amateur, she enlisted as an ambulance driver through the Battle of Britain. At the young age of 26, Pam unfortunately passed away when a plane she was a passenger in crashed upon takeoff. This 1 1/8" x 1 1/4" Contestant Badge is from her sole US Amateur Women's victory in 1936.
Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on Sunday, October 1st, with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
