1934 US Open at Merion GC Contestant Badge #109

The 1934 U.S. Open was the first contested by the United States Golf Association at Merion although it had been a popular site for both men's and women's U.S. Amateurs previously. Over the next 80 years Merion would become a very historical site for U.S. Opens hosting five to date. Offered here is a Contestants Badge from that '34 Open. Badge is extremely clean on this example which was used in the "Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles" as the model for how a 1934 U.S. Open Contestants badge should appear. As some one is reviewing your collection flipping through your U.S. Open Contestants badges 1933, 1934, 1935. They may even comment "boy that '34 is nice" based on it's brightness alone. Eighty year old U.S. Open Contestants badges just do not turn up that often. Please observe the pictures provided. We are pleased to offer such a great example of the '34 Contestants Badge for the U.S.Open won by Olin Dutra and distributed to the 146 players in the field by the United States Golf Association. Oh did we mention that 1934 was the first year that both Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson played in a U.S. Open. 1 1/4" x 1 1/4".

Please note: This auction will end at 7:00pm EST on September 27th with extended bidding to follow. All items in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period. All lots are free to be bid on until extended bidding has ended
