1933 Open Championship at St. Andrews Official Wednesday Program

At the end of four rounds there would be two golfers atop the St Andrews Old Course leaderboard at the 1933 Open Championship, each a representative from the United States that played the links track as it was intended even to par. Denny Shute vs Craig Wood was the Saturday 36-hole matinee performance. Each were well practiced on the style course, carry over from the Ryder Cup bout against the British only days prior at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club in North West England. Schute started the final day three back and Wood a single shot at the 54 hole mark, rallying to best a drove of four golfers leading golfers heading into the final round including major champions Henry Cotton, Abe Mitchell and Leo Diegel.

This program purchased at the Home of Golf 90 years ago was a survivor, exempt from the rubbish bin and poised for addition to an esteemed golf library pining for this early Open program. Not meant to last, nearly all of them didn't - with this being the first example that we have offered. Inside the 'programme' cover are pages that include numerous St Andrews time-period hole depictions, past Champion Golfers of the year, the tournament draw, local advertising and Spectator information. This blue cover program remains in very good condition considering it's journey, with the glue holding the spine together.

Each lot has its own 30 minute countdown clock during extended bidding. The clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!

1. Place your initial bids BEFORE 10pm ET in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you may bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. Lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 10pm ET

Extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, and each lot will begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid placed during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you
