1931 Ryder Cup at Scioto Country Club Official Program
With scrolls containing 'Scioto Country Club at Columbus', 'Ohio U.S.A.' and the dates, this intricate early Ryder Cup logo design incorporated versions of the American flag, British flag and a Scioto Country Club checker design adorning the front of this silver program. It represents the first 1931 Ryder Cup program that The Golf Auction has offered. With the Great Depression devastating the economy, travel was at a minimum which equated to a much lower amount of programs produced and purchased for the fifty cents cost that is printed on the bottom right corner. In only the third playing of the Ryder Cup Matches the United States captained by Walter Hagen was victorious 9-3 points behind the firepower of the golf luminaries Gene Sarazen, Horton Smith, Craig Wood and Denny Shute. The condition of this program is good to very good, as appropriate wear and small creasing is exhibited on the front, back covers and spine, free from the large crease that is a result of gentlemen folding the program to fit in their suit coat pocket. Pre-World War II Ryder Cup pieces, that exist, often fail to meet up too the exceeding demand placed on them by the most ardent golf hobbyists, with this opportunity far and few between surely not one to miss.

Place your bids now as this auction will end at 9:00pm ET Sunday, August 9th with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. When placing initial bid, you must agree to the terms before confirming your bid. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval). 1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
