1931 Open Championship Official Draw Sheet Program - First At Carnoustie - Tommy Armour Winner

Tommy Armour was a popular winner when Carnoustie staged its first Open Championship back in 1931. Armour, who was born in Edinburgh in 1896, but who emigrated to America in the 1920's, produced rounds of 73,75,77,71 to finish one shot ahead of Argentina's Jose Jurado and two in front of England's Percy Aliss and America's Gene Sarazen. Nicknamed the "Silver Scot", Armour must have tried to follow his famed advice in conquering Carnoustie, "Take no sixes, no double bogeys, and remember there are lots of ways to make four". This program presents in very good condition displaying writing from original spectator who has noted various round scores and cumulative scores. Center sheeting is separated from binding, small rip in center. Please see photos. This thoroughly enviable piece remains a reflection back to the first Open contested at Carnoustie
