1930 US Amateur at Merion Ticket No. 2829 - Bobby Jones Historic Completion of Grand Slam!
Bobby Jones aimed to complete what O.B. Keeler had coined the "Grand Slam" in September 1930, having already claimed the British Open and Amateur Championships along with the United States Open Championship over that years first three Majors. Jones could accomplish what was thought to be unattainable with a win at the U.S.G.A.'s Amateur Championship to be contested at Merion. The fortunate original holder of this ticket from the pinnacle of Bobby Jones's career, his 1930 U.S. Amateur triumph had the opportunity to see history in the making. Surprisingly for the 1930 U.S. Amateur play there were just a scant 16,796 daily tickets purchased, but it was one year into the Great Depression. The majority of these have not survived over the 88 years. Making this a scarce, highly desired golf collectible. Its only apparent flaw is a small amount of staining on the lowest area of the right side of the ticket (See photo to the left for just how small this area impacted is). With that stated for clarity this example boasts formidable eye appeal, free from creases, and retaining its original string for attachment. An admission to one of, if not, the greatest feats in golf's rich history.
