1930 Harry Cooper Wire Photo Qualifying for US Open 8/16/30

Presented here is a 6" x 8" wire photo of Harry Cooper qualifying for the 1930 US Open. Harry "Lighthorse" Cooper was an English-American golfer who was considered one of the best to never win a Major tournament, despite winning 31 times on the PGA Tour. After winning the inaugural Los Angeles Open and finishing the final 18 holes in just 2 1/2 hours, sportswriter Damon Runyon dubbed him "Lighthorse Harry" after Lighthorse Harry Lee, a cavalry officer for the Continental Army in the American Revolution (the father of General Robert E. Lee.) Cooper finished the 1930 US Open in 4th place at +5.
