First generation, type one wire photo from the fifth contested Walker Cup matches held in 1928 at the Chicago Golf Club. These matches were the most lopsided matches in the history of the biennial event with the USA claiming an 11-1 victory. In those days the singles matches consisted of 36 holes, a record for margin of defeat was established there as well with playing captain Bobby Jones winning his match an amazing 13-12. Pleased see photos which display original cutline and the one back stamping from the wire photos appearance on Sep 1, 1928. Only flaws on this well preserved wire photo are the traditional slight chipping and crease around the corners of image.
