1926 US Open Qualifying Rounds Contestant Badge - Bobby Jones Victory!
This seldom seen 1926 US Open badge served as a badge of passage to the qualifying rounds for the elite few golfers hoping to access one of Bobby Jones greatest career moments. This is a good condition example of this early U.S. Open badge, missing it's clasping pin on the reverse. The reverse has an adhesive sticker in place covering the original button backing paper of the manufacturer Manhattan Emblem Company on Broadway in NYC. In the 1926 U.S. Open contested at Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio, Jones made a spectacular two-putt birdie on the 72nd hole to win by one stroke over Joe Turnesa claiming his second U.S. Open Championship (1923). With the victory, and already having claimed the British Open title earlier in the summer, Jones became the first golfer to hold both titles simultaneously. Dimensions are 1 1/4" in diameter for badge. This 1926 badge provides all the requisites of the ideal golf collectible, and would be a worthy inclusion or upgrade in just about any advanced collection. 2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
