1920's Royal Doulton Golf Themed Teapot with Lid - R. Wayne Perkins Collection

A Royal Doulton teapot is offered here, with the Charles Crombie golfing characters. The adage "Every dog has his day, and every man his hour" is also featured on the teapot. The teapot is 6" tall and 8" from spout to handle. The Doulton family started making pipes and sanitary fittings in 1815, later enlisting local artists to design tableware and fine collectibles. Doulton was granted the Royal Warrant in 1901, and continues to make fine glassware to this day, now a part of the Waterford Wedgwood family.

**THE R. WAYNE PERKINS COLLECTION**

Wayne Perkins has dedicated a lifetime to education as a teacher for more than 40 years at the University of Evansville, where he served as the chair for the philosophy and religion departments. Out of this position, fellowships took him to England for assignments at the University of Leicester and Harlaxton College. While overseas, in the home of golf, Perkins devoted free time to scouring for his leisure passion decorative golf collectibles. By this time Perkins had already developed, through countless hours spent at ceramic trade shows and his scholarly skills as a meticulous researcher, the background knowledge necessary to easily navigate through the nuances at the highest levels of exquisite golf themed pottery. This time period in his life, along with his membership in The Golf Collectors Society since 1980 served as corner stones in the formation of a golf themed pottery collection which ranks at the "head of the class". Of special note in Wayne's collection is his unequaled holdings of Doulton Lambeth material along with it's out shoot Royal Doulton ceramics. It is an utmost honor for The Golf Auction to work with a gentleman of Wayne Perkins qualities and to offer the "fruits" of his lifetime pursuit of the finest of golf pottery to the golf collecting community
