1900 Original Pen & Ink Magazine Illustration Design Drawing by Frank A. Nankwell
"FLUMMERY" means empty compliments or nonsense according to the dictionary. In this original pen and ink drawing it looks like the golfer has experienced some of that. This 1900 pen and ink drawing was used in a magazine and done by the artist Frank Nankwell. Both the male golfer and the female onlookers are dressed in time-period attire with loud patterns to be had. The combination of pen and ink mediums help the piece's range of value , allowing the caricatures to stand out. It is a large drawing at 12" by 16" and professionally framed to 22" by 26." This relic of competition at golfs highest level comes directly from the PGA where it has resided for over 75 years. From the collection of PGA REACH, with a certificate of authenticity accompanying this lot.
