This offering is for a 1897 Original Pen & Ink on Board Artist Illustration for Puck Magazine by Artist F. Opper. Puck magazine's lifespan dated from 1871 until 1918. What started out as a German-language publication covered all the political and social hot topics that were taking place, often taking a humorous and lighter viewpoint on them. George Washington University is known as being the home of the largest collection of the popular comics found in these magazines, such as this original golf sketch from F. Opper in 1897. Image is 10" x 10", with the frame and matting 18" x 17". Very good with minor discoloration. A letter of from PGA Historian Bob Denney will accompany this lot.
