1897 Colonel Bogey Sketch Book - Longmans Green and Co.
This lot features the Colonel Bogey Sketch Book from 1897. "An eccentric collection of scribbles and scratches found in disused lockers and swept up in the pavilion together with sundry after-dinner sayings of the Colonel."
The Gosport and Stokes Bay Golf Club, formerly United Services Golf Club, was formed in 1885. Captain Seely Vidal, R.E. insisted that a name and title was given to the mythical "Bogey" opponent brought over from the Great Yarmouth Club in 1892. Vidal insisted on a rank nothing less than Colonel, and that is how Colonel Bogey came to be.
In good condition, with some wear to the cover.
