Presented here is a notoriously rare example in the book collecting world of golf history. We are pleased to have the opportunity to offer this book, a proof copy of 'A Round of the Links: The Golf Greens in Scotland' to our bidding patrons. Not only does it retain it's original slip cover, but the dedication leaf is in addition signed by Smart and numbered 16. The limited number produced is not listed in the book, but it is believed to only be 100. George Aikman's etchings are of John Smart's greatly detailed views are of the following courses: Dunbar, North Berwick, Gullane, Luffness, Musselburgh, Leith, Leven, Elie, St. Andrews, Carnoustie, Montrose, Aberdeen, Perth, Stirling, Bruntsfield, Lanark, Glasgow, Machrihanish, Prestwick and Troon. This rare book is extremely difficult to find as many of the other examples were broken up and framed or hand colored. Slip cover is intact and book is on good condition. John Smart was the illustrator and the book was privately printed in Edinburgh. There are 20 colored etched plates by George Aikman after Smart.
