1867 Fruitland Nurseries (Augusta National Grounds) Letter Signed by P.J. Berckmans
This lot features a unique piece of Augusta memorabilia. Before Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts founded Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta was famous for peach farms. At the time, Fruitland was the most successful horticultural sites in the South. Fruitland planted millions of peach trees in the 1800's and early 1900's and made Georgia famous for its sweet Georgia Peaches. In 1931, the land was eventually purchased and transformed into the most famous golf course in the world. This letter from P. J. Berckmans is dated 1967 and comes in beautiful fountain pen with a flourished signature.
James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
