First and Last To Walk on the Moon Autographs - Neil Armstrong and Gene Cernan

The 18th edition of the Hoosier Celebrity Banquet and Golf Tournament included an esteemed duo of Purdue University graduates when they landed astronauts Neil Armstrong and Gus Cernan to participate in the activities. Armstrong notched his place in history when Apollo 11 made its moon landing in July 1969, with Neil descending to the moon's surface as the first person to touch that ground. Armstrong was a "reluctant" hero who after 1994 flat out refused all autograph requests be they through the mail or in person. Our consignor of this prized lot was fortunate as a participant in the Indiana staged golf tournament to receive a personalized autograph from the space hero Armstrong. It is penned "To Bobby With Best of Luck Neil Armstrong Apollo 11". This spectacular matted signed tribute to the first and last persons to walk on the moon comes full circle with the cut signature of Gene Cernan who took his place in history as the 11th person on the moon, his return to the Apollo 17th craft in December of 1972 notched his accomplishment as the last person to touch the surface of the moon. Cernan's autograph which is also personalized is signed "To Bobby Good Luck & Best Wishes". This signed display will make a centerpiece to any collection, and comes with an added bonus of a vintage Apollo patch. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the autographs of Armstrong and Cernan and their letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
